Neighbourhood Guide: Where to Eat in Yaletown

Where to Eat in Yaletown | Best Restaurants near Smithe House Hotel

Between the intimate dining rooms tucked into heritage brick-and-beam buildings and the trendy interiors with cozy, year-round patios, Yaletown is full of great restaurants to choose from. Whether the plan is date night, a celebration, or just a casual night out with friends, there’s a spot here for it.

Here are some of our team’s favourite places to eat in Yaletown.

Dovetail

A fast neighbourhood favourite, Dovetail is a California-inspired restaurant with an expansive menu of light appies, fresh salads, and innovative pastas. When they first opened, the spicy vodka pasta was all anyone could talk about, and the best part is that it’s only $25 on their “Happy Days” menu, available daily from 11:30am to 5pm. Pair that with a cozy streetside patio and a glass of wine, and lunch is pretty much sorted.

Elisa

Named one of the World’s 101 Best Steakhouses, Elisa is a contemporary steakhouse built around flame-grilled premium cuts, sustainable seafood, and locally-sourced produce, exactly the kind of place made for a date night. The Michelin-recommended kitchen also picked up Vancouver Magazine’s Restaurant of the Year in 2025, and the cocktail program holds its own right alongside the food. Prime cuts come straight off a wood-fired grill, with a butcher shop next door supplying the kitchen.

If a night in is preferred instead, that same butcher shop, Luigi & Sons, has an impressive selection of cuts on offer, alongside a fridge stocked with classic sides made by the restaurant.

Minami

Minami is a modern Japanese restaurant best known for its aburi sushi. The menu runs from sashimi and rolls to shareable plates, best enjoyed with a round of sake or a cocktail off their inventive list. Pro tip: next door, their market concept, Aburi Market, also offers simple to-go options, ideal for a picnic at David Lam Park or a quick bite on the move.

Social Corner

On the edge of Yaletown, Michelin-recommended Social Corner is a lively Italian-inspired restaurant with grand interiors and a patio that somehow still feels cozy. Watch their team of pizza artists put on a show with their massive open-flame oven on display, or try their burger that’s in the running for one of the best in the city. Good food, an impressive wine list, and great for any occasion. Their late-night happy hour keeps the room going well into the evening too, making it an easy last stop on the short walk back to Smithe House.

Bevel

Recently opened by the team behind Dovetail, Bevel is their New York counterpart, with a bigger focus on pizzas and share plates. The maroon interiors have an intimate but big-city feel, and they serve everything from a classic steak tartare, to perfectly done steaks with four sauces to choose from. Go before 5pm for their Happy Days menu.

Ray’s

Another newer addition to the neighbourhood, Ray’s is all comfort food and lively energy, set in a high-ceilinged brick-and-beam room. The open floor plan and big shared tables make it an easy pick for groups, whether that’s a birthday dinner or a crowd grabbing a bite before a show. It’s open late too, perfect for everything from the first stop of the night to the last.

Homer St Cafe

Set inside the historic Homer Building, Homer St Cafe has earned a Michelin recommendation for its menu of comfort food classics, built around a fire-engine red rotisserie that turns out chicken, prime rib, and more. The rotisserie chicken is the one everybody orders, served with classic sides basted in jus. Brunch runs on weekends, and yes – reservations are accepted, so it’s worth booking ahead if you’ve got your heart set on a table.
